Retro Downtown Richmond Ky Engagement session | Voodoo Imagery

By some quiet stroke of social media fate, Savannah and Jeremy found me on Facebook and knew Voodoo Imagery was the right fit for their unique, quirky love story. From the moment we connected, it was clear this session needed to feel playful, nostalgic, and a little bit rebellious—in the best way.

After getting to know them, I went to work sourcing locations that felt true to who they are. We started in the streets of downtown Richmond, Kentucky, where a perfectly patina’d staircase tucked along the side of a building caught my eye from across the street. It practically whispered you know you want to—and I’m glad I listened. That first stop gave us space to shake off nerves, settle in, and let the city set the tone.

From there, we moved into the heart of the session at Apparitions, a vintage collectible store on the corner downtown that feels like stepping back in time.

With one of the largest vinyl selections in the area and walls soaked in vibrant, retro character, it was the perfect backdrop to let Savannah and Jeremy’s personalities take center stage. We flipped through records, shared kisses over the bins, laughed between legendary artists, and wandered the aisles like it was 1975 for a while.

As the sun dipped, we spilled back out onto Main Street, ending the session in front of the iconic downtown Glyndon Hotel that anchored the vision and brought everything full circle. Brick, neon, history, and movement—each location layered into the next, telling their story piece by piece.

The love these two share is present in the quiet details. Subtle arm grabs. Hands finding each other without thinking. Stolen kisses that feel unprompted and real. Running around the city with Savannah and Jeremy felt less like directing a session and more like documenting a shared experience—exactly the way it should be.

I can’t wait to do it all again at their spooky Halloween wedding later this year. Until then, this session stands as a reminder that love doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful—and that the moments that feel the most you are always worth remembering.

Because the ordinary deserves to be remembered.
